George P. Fugarino, 92

George P. Fugarino of Scotch Plains died on Mar. 25 at Peggy's House - Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains. He was 92. Fugarino was born in New York City, lived in Union City and settled in Scotch Plains in 1969. He graduated from St. Peter's College in Jersey City and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Fugarino worked at Drexel Burnham Lambert in New York City for 30 years, retiring as assistant vice president of purchasing. He was active with Immaculate Heart of Mary Church as an extraordinary minister, altar server, choir member, sacristan. He was a particularly dedicated volunteer for the Immaculate Heart of Mary food pantry, which he started. Fugarino was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus in Watchung and  Scotch Plains.
