Hannah Solomon, 6, participates in West Point Tough Kids Triathlon
Scotch Plains resident, Hannah Solomon, 6, became a proud triathlete yesterday at the annual West Point Tough Kids Triathlon. She was the youngest participant in the 7-10 year old group that swam 100 meters in Lake Popolopon, biked 2 miles and ran ½ mile. She finished in 26 minutes 23 seconds.
“I was a little nervous because they wouldn’t let the parents into the transition area, but she managed fine,” said her mom, Debbie Solomon who also competed in her first triathlon in July at the Jersey State in Mercer County Park. “I feel that this experience inspires children to develop a love for fitness at a young age. In today’s world, starting early to help children learn life long health and fitness habits is key to them becoming and staying fit.
After Hannah crossed the finished line, we asked how she enjoyed it and she responded, “I want to do it again!” Hannah is also a rock wall climbing enthusiast and swimmer. She will be entering first grade at The McGinn School this year.
