IHM Announces Resumption of Music Immersion Program for Preschoolers

  • Name: Michael Lewis
  • Occasion: Music Immersion Program for Preschoolers

Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 1571 Martine Avenue in  Scotch Plains, is pleased to announce the resumption of a program of musical immersion for preschool children which debuted last year  under the direction of IHM Music Director Katie Wills.

Entitled "Making Music Praying Twice,"   the program is specifically designed for children five years of age and younger and their parents as a means of linking faith and music in a stimulating, age-appropriate manner.  Each full session of ten weekly classes coordinates with both the seasonal and Liturgical calendar.

In "Making Music Praying Twice" (www.makingmusicprayingtwice.com) children and parents will use instruments, toys and scarves as a means to dance, chant, sing, play, and ultimately pray together.  Each weekly class will last from 45 minutes to one hour with an eye toward young attention spans, and class size will be limited to ensure individual attention.  The current session officially began last month but the program is designed to accommodate entry at any point within the ten-week period.  During this session classes can be scheduled on either Tuesdays at 1:30pm or Saturdays at 9:00am.

Tuition for the full ten-week session is $120 the first child enrolled, with a maximum charge per family of $170; this would be prorated according to the actual length of participation.  The tuition includes a session of ten classes, two CDs and a corresponding illustrated songbook with supplemental parental information.  For additional information please contact Katie Wills in care of the IHM Parish Office at (908) 889-2100 or by email at ihmreled@aol.com.
