Girls on the Run of NJ East is excited to announce our Spring 2012 program!! Girls on the Run® is an experiential learning, non-profit prevention program for girls in grades 3-5. We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.
The 10-week program follows a national curriculum focused on building self-esteem and improving emotional and physical health with training for a 3.1 mile (5K) event. Participants learn how to make healthy decisions, resolve conflict, and get along in a group. We envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.
Registration for our fall season opens on March 5, 2012 at www.girlsontherunnj.org. All program sites meet twice/week for 1 hour and 15 minutes per session. We have sites in Berkeley Heights, Florham Park, Maplewood, Millburn, Montclair, Morris Plains, Morristown, Summit, Westfield, Union, Springfield, Parsippany, Hopewell, Princeton and East Windsor.
The local Westfield area will serve the communities of Cranford, Westfield, Scotch Plains and Fanwood. The program cost is $185 per girl and is available regardless of family income. Please contact us at info@girlsontherunnj.org to request financial assistance.
Session dates are approximately April 4, 2012 - June 9, 2012. Girls on the Run of NJ East is an Independent Council of Girls on the Run® International, which
has a network of more than 150 Girls on the Run councils across the United States and Canada. All are welcome.

Why is it limited to 5th grade, I will love my 6th grader to participate. Is there any hope that this will happen in the future? Thnx.

Grace - I guess you'll have to volunteer or start your own organization if you want to see that happen. I can only guess the age limit is imposed, among other reasons, by how many hands they have to assist them with the program

There is an older girl program for 6 - 8 grade called Girls on Track. Go to the spring brochure for details.
