Fanwood PD Arrest Two for Possession, One for DWI

Two are arrested in Fanwood for possession of marijuana. Fanwood PD also tackle local theft, active warrants and a DWI.

Arrests

Driving While Intoxicated

Juan Tequitalapa, 29, of Elizabeth, was arrested at 10:52 p.m. on May 1, for driving while intoxicated. The Officer stopped Tequitalapa for a motor vehicle violation at South Martine and Herbert Avenue. While speaking with the driver, the Officer detected a strong odor of an alcohol beverage coming from inside of the vehicle. The Officer asked the driver to step out of the vehicle to perform field sobriety tests which he was unable to complete. Tequitalapa was arrested, charged, processed and released to a responsible person pending his court hearing.

Possession of Marijuana

Nassor Jessie, 28, of Newark, was arrested at 3:20 a.m. on May 2, for possession of marijuana and an active warrant out of Hillside. The Officer stopped Jessie for a motor vehicle violation on Terrill Road on East Front Street and discovered the warrant. During the arrest the Officer located suspected marijuana on the driver. Jessie was processed and turned over to the Hillside Police Department.

Jared Crayton, 18, of Jersey City, was arrested at 11:36 p.m. on May 2, for possession of marijuana. The Officer stopped Crayton for a motor vehicle violation on South Avenue and Second Street. While the Officer was speaking with the driver he noticed a baggie with green vegetation in the vehicle. The Officer recovered the baggie which he suspected contained marijuana. Crayton was arrested, charged with possession, processed, and released on a summons pending a court hearing.

Theft

On April 30, a Forest Road resident reported a theft. The victim stated that unknown suspect(s) removed the tires from his boat trailer. The value of the stolen tires is $125.

Active Warrants

Kelly Donovan, 28, Raritan, was arrested at 9:22 a.m. on May 5, for an active warrant out of Scotch Plains. The Officer stopped Donovan for a motor vehicle violation at Terrill Road and Cray Terrace and discovered the warrant. Donovan was arrested, processed, posted bail and released.

Mark Basden, 20, Linden was arrested at 12:05 p.m. on May 6, for an active warrant out of North Plainfield. The Officer stopped Basden for a motor vehicle violation on Terrill Road and Sterling Place and discovered the warrant. The driver was arrested, processed, posted bail and released.

Rasheedah Canty, 35, of Plainfield, was arrested at 9:17 a.m. on May 7, for an active warrant out of Linden. The Officer stopped Canty for a motor vehicle violation on South Avenue and Terrill Road and discovered the warrant. The driver was arrested, processed, posted bail and released.

Jeffrey Sobers, 44, Plainfield, was arrested at 8:08 a.m. on May 8, for an active warrant out of the Union County Sheriff’s Office. The Officer stopped Sobers for a motor vehicle violation at South Avenue and Terrill Road and discovered the warrant. Sobers was arrested, processed and turned over to the Union County Sheriff's Office.
