Letter to Editor: High School Group Thanks Community Supporters

The Amnesty International chapter recently worked to raise money for Darfur.

To the Editor,

On behalf of Scotch Plains Fanwood High School's chapter of Amnesty International, I want to thank the merchants and community of Scotch Plains and Fanwood for their support during our summer-long effort to raise awareness and contributions for the Save Darfur Coalition. Millions of refugees still languish in eastern Chad after years of brutalization at the hands of the Sudanese regime. Money made this summer will go towards addressing the political upheaval in the region, and the direct needs of the refugees themselves. So thank you for the participation in the car washes, yard sales, and candy sales.
In particular I want to thank Scotchwood Florist, the Bath Connection, Family Investors Corporation, Fanwood Nails, the Double Dipper Cafe, Enchantments, South Street Cafe, Try-Cob at Fanwood, Rice Inn, and Exclusive Salon and Spa for their continued generosity in sponsoring our efforts. Thanks also to our dedicated members, without whom this would not be possible.
In October we will be working with UNICEF to get Trick-or-Treaters out on behalf of the needy children of the world. Another important project starting in October will be raising funds for the pediatric center in Livingstone, Zambia. Thanks again for your continued support, you are making a positive difference.
