Today: Local Shopping Event to Benefit Seniors
Shop for SAGE will donate 20 percent of proceeds towards programs for senior citizens. Artisans and shop owners from Chatham, Westfield, Hillsborough, New Providence, Madison, Mendham, Scotch Plains and Stirling will be on hand to offer their merchandise
SAGE Eldercare will hold its first “Shop for SAGE” event today, May 3 from 10 am to 7 pm at 290 Broad Street in Summit. Local artisans will be on hand to sell elegant handbags, chic fashion and jewelry, fabulous artwork, homemade treats, dazzling stationery, fragrant lotions and soaps and more!
“We are very excited to bring together some unique vendors who are willing to help support SAGE Eldercare services and programs,” stated Dawn Knill, Director of Development for SAGE. “This is a great opportunity forgetting the perfect Mother’s Day gift, graduation presents, year-end teacher gifts and more,” she added.

Sandella Art – Sandy Marmorato, Summit
After teaching art for many years, Sandy Marmorato decided to retire and enrolled at the Visual Art Center in Summit. She credits her wonderful teachers for inspiring her to create the art that will be available at SAGE’s sale. Sandella Art will have bird pottery, in addition to small watercolors and prints of various subject matter. There will be note cards for sale, produced from her collection of watercolor paintings.
Take A Bough – Kathleen Clingan, Chatham
Take A Bough will have wearable and fun ladies’ clothing and accessories for the spring/summer season. Items for sale will include packable, travel tops and lightweight sweaters, colorful tunics and casual dresses by Gretchen Scott Designs, whimsical shirts, soft wraps for cool nights (or cool restaurants), plus a few surprises! In addition, many designs can be custom ordered for size and color preference.
The Dessert Ladies – Lindsay Keogh, Scotch Plains
Chocolate Pretzels, crumb cake, and brownies, oh my! Whether you're looking for a holiday gift, a custom party favor, a delicious thank you, a corporate gift or just a treat for yourself, we've got something to please every sweet tooth. A selection of biens, pushey cakes, cake towers, chocolate-covered pretzels and the perfect selection of Mother's Day Gifts will be available for purchase. Mangia Feast – Dawn Paskalides, Chatham
Mangia Feast actually began when Dawn Pasklalides was a very young girl, learning to make stuffed breads from her grandmother. Each Sunday, they put everything they could think of into the stuffed breads in preparation for their big family meal and, at each one of those meals, her grandmother would say, “Mangia, mangia!” All of the breads come frozen and can be kept in the freezer for up to three months.
