Scotch Plains Blotter: Theft, Fraud, Arrests, Harassment and Criminal Mischief

The following information was provided by the Scotch Plains Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

 

 

Theft


September 17, 2012:
 A resident of Raritan Road reported being a victim of a Theft.  He stated that he had friends over and when they left he noticed several hundred dollars was missing from a dresser drawer.

September 21, 2012:  A resident of Hoe Ave. store reported being a victim of a Theft.  She stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) removed the front license plate off of her vehicle.


Fraud


September 20, 2012:  A resident of Mountain View Ave. reported being a victim of Fraud.  He stated that unknown suspect(s) made several thousand dollars in purchases on his credit card without his authorization.

September 21, 2012:  A resident of Lyde Pl. reported being a victim of Fraud.  He stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) removed approximately $2,500 from his checking account without his authorization.


Arrests


September 19, 2012:
A 20-year-old male of North Plainfield N.J. was arrested for Possession of Marijuana.  Officer Lavery stopped Zapata for a motor vehicle violation on Park Ave. and while speaking with him he smelled a strong odor of Marijuana, a bag of Marijuana was later found inside the car.  He was placed under arrest and transported to H.Q. where he was processed and released. 

Septemeber 22, 2012: Timothy Alexander Age. 32 of Edison. N.J. was arrested for a $5,000 outstanding warrant issued by the Newark court.  Officer Aversa stopped Alexander for a motor vehicle violation on Terrill Rd. and discovered the warrant. He was transported to H.Q. where she was processed turned over to the Essex County Sheriff’s Office.

September 23, 2012:  Benjamin Brown of Plainfield N.J. was arrested for a $1,000 outstanding warrant issued by the Cranbury court.  Officer Aversa stopped Brown for a motor vehicle violation on Front St. and discovered the warrant.  He was transported to H.Q. where he was processed and released.


Harrasment and Criminal Mischief



Septemeber 18, 2012:
A resident of Westfield Ave. reported being a victim of Harassment.  He stated that he has received several calls from an ex-friend.

September 22, 2012: A resident of William St. reported being a victim of Criminal Mischief.  He stated that sometime during the day unknown suspect(s) dented the front quarter panel of his motor vehicle.
