Arrests for outstanding warrants top the list of recent criminal activity in Scotch Plains
Burglary
On January 14, a car was burglarized on Simms Avenue. The victim stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) entered her vehicle which was parked in the street. Once inside the suspect(s) removed several hundred dollars in video games. Entrance was gained by smashing the driver’s side window.
Attempted Burglary
On January 9, an attempted burglary occurred on Deer Path. The victim reported that sometime during the day unknown suspect(s) attempted to gain entry to her residence through a first floor window. The window screen had been cut.
Theft
On January 10, a Flanders Avenue resident reported a vehicle theft. The victim stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) stole her vehicle which was parked in front of her house.
On January 14, a theft occurred at a Route 22 gas station. The station manager stated that a customer ordered $40 worth of gas and then left without paying.
Fraud
On January 10, a Wood Road resident reported being a victim of fraud. The victim stated that he received a call from an unknown suspect(s) who pretended to be a police officer and needed money to bail out a relative. The victim wired approximately $3,000 to a law firm out of the country. The call turned out to be false call.
On January 13, the owner of a Route 22 business reported being a victim of a fraud. She stated that a customer gave her a check for payment on a closed account.
Arrests
Carlos Alarcon, 20, of Kearny, was arrested on January 11, for fraud. Officer Everitt stopped Alarcon for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 and observed several fake drivers licenses in the vehicle. Alarcon was arrested, transported to Police headquarters, processed and released.
Edwin Garcia, 22, of Plainfield, was arrested on January 11, for possession of marijuana. Officer Von Langen stopped Garcia for a motor vehicle violation on Terrill Road and observed the marijuana in the vehicle. Garcia was placed under arrest, transported to Police headquarters, processed and released.
Jerry Balthazard, 20, of North Plainfield, was arrested on January 12 for possession of marijuana. Officer Lavery stopped his vehicle for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 and while speaking with him he observed the marijuana. Balthazard was arrested, transported to Police headquarters, processed and released.
Rossember Molina, 48, of North Plainfield, was arrested on January 13. Officer Combs stopped Molina for motor vehicle violation on South Avenue and discovered a $1,900 outstanding warrant issued by the Union court. Molina was arrested, transported to Police headquarters, processed and released.
Rashan Franklin, 20, of Newark, was arrested on January 13. Officer Budzinski stopped Franklin for a motor vehicle violation on North Avenue and discovered a No Bail outstanding warrant issued by the Essex County court. Franklin was arrested, transported to Police headquarters, processed and turned over to Essex County.
Christopher Serra, 28, of Dunellen, was arrested on January 14. Officer Silva stopped Serra for a motor vehicle violation on Terrill Road and discovered a $950 outstanding warrant issued by the Dunellen court. Serra was arrested, transported to Police headquarters, processed and released.
Mark Anthony, 42, of Elk St. Piscataway N.J. was arrested on January 14. Officer Citarella stopped Anthony for motor vehicle violation on Route 22 and discovered a $1705 outstanding warrant issued by the South Plainfield court. He was transported to Police headquarters, processed and released.
