Scotch Plains and Fanwood's furry four-legged friends took to the streets Sunday for the Fanwood-Scotch Plains Rotary Club's inaugural "Woof Walk." Close to 100 residents braved cloudy skies and occasional rain to participate in the event, a 1.5-mile stroll to raise money for Rotary charities, the Scotch Plains Police Department's K-9 unit and the Fanwood Police Department's bicycle patrol. The route started and ended at Alan M. Augustine Park, which was filled with local vendors and organizations promoting their wares and causes.

Great photos here as they convey a great sense of what this unique event was all about.
Thank you Antonella....
The variety of dogs participating at our "First Annual Rotary Woof Walk" were quite a sight to see... and their personalities were quite endearing... really such loveable creatures. Surprisingly, all of them played nicely and had a good time too.... :)
The event turned out to be a success, despite the not so great weather. Participants and their dogs seemed to have really enjoyed themselves. From the 1.5 mile walk, to the doggy contests, to the K-9 Demonstration, to the great food from Flannery's Pub and the Stage House Tavern - a fun and enjoyable experience was had by all.
There was truly a great sense of community here, and the goal of raising funds for the Scotch Plains
K-9 Unit and the Fanwood Police Bike Unit Patrol was accomplished. It was a win-win for the community, and we appreciate very much the support we were given. Next year, the event promises to be bigger and better.... I'm personally looking forward to seeing everyone again, and having more of our friends join us as well.

Thank you for the compliment. I couldn't have made beautiful photos without beautiful dogs though :)

Thank you Antonella! Great pics and article. We had so much fun and to see all of the "local" dogs, it was great! We're pleased that the first Woof Walk was such a success! We're looking forward to next year! (P.S. We're a bit biased--Romeo makes for a great poster child for next year...oops we meant poster-dog! ;-))
