Hi Ralph,

I received this information from the Westfield Police Blotter which does not include the names. Sorry!

I approve of the with-holding of names until court date. Innocent until proven guilty is kind of a rule around here. And errors sometimes are made in police reports that are never corrected in the press.
The internet has a difficult time forgetting such events. I know of one individual who was arrested but later found completely innocent of all charges. A search on their name brings up the arrest on the first results page, the courts finding of falsified evidence and later dismissal of all charges is on the second page.

True people are innocent and tarnished forever, however a journalist's job was/is to request info in the public record...as this arrest is. To just say 'Sorry' because the press release doesn't provide a name means the journalist or the school she attented failed. Anyone is supposed to have access to the public record. Naturally, government doesn't release what it can get away with. If Ms Bitette had said she did not inquire because she did not injure a possibly innocent person, fine. But she displayed her ignorance of journalism by saying 'Sorry'.

Actually I thought the disclaimer on the top of the piece pretty much covered it. Perhaps the proper response would have been not to respond at all (Tough crowd!).

You do have access to the public record. Just go into Westfield, find parking and request the log. It will supply you with all the information needed.
But you seem to lack both the energy to do that and the reading comprehension to notice the statement at the top of the article.
Incidentally, why were you driven out of Fanwood? Is that information posted on a police report? Real name please so we can check.
