Looking for a Safe Sugar Substitute Like Stevia? Be Careful What You May Find

Stevia The Natural Sweetener. Zero calories Zero Carbs

According to the Stevia web site: (Austin, TX) December 19, 2008. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the herb stevia (Stevia rebaudiana) as a safe food additive. Prior to this official approval from the FDA, several companies, including food giants Cargill and Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, and Wisdom Natural Brands, performed reviews self-affirming GRAS (generally recognized as safe) status of stevia as a natural, no-calorie sweetener.

We are too fat. We are eating too much sugar and fructose (HFCS) High- Fructose Corn Syrup. Sugar is Both a Fat and a Carb, and this Combo Drives World-Wide Obesity-Related Disease Rates

Will someone please tell the Food Police; it isn’t the number of calories we consume that make us fat it is the amount of Carbohydrates, Fructose and Sugar we consume that does. Sugar consumption has increased and so has the increase in diabetes. By 2010, sugar consumption had risen to 160 million tons, and global diabetes has reached over 346 million people. Sugar metabolizes as both fat and carbohydrate because it contains both glucose and fructose. These two sugars are not interchangeable, and your body processes each of them differently. Sucrose (table sugar) is 50 percent glucose and 50 percent fructose. High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is anywhere from 42 to 55 percent fructose depending on which type is used.

Products labeled “Diet”

Concerned Americans are turning toward using the over 6,000 products labeled sugar-free or “diet” believing it is a healthy alternative. Artificial Sweeteners are alternatives to table sugar (sucrose), and high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) but studies are finding out the truth. It has since been discovered that aspartame and other artificial sweeteners cause damage to your health.

According to Dr. Mercola, the Health Ranger, and several other Holistic, Naturopathic Web Sites - Aspartame and other “sugar-free” labeled products can cause brain damage and other toxic side effects.

It has been known since the creation of sugar substitutes that the caused all sorts if health problems. I have articles that date back over 20 years ago speaking out about the dangers of artificial sweetners. Only now when it is to the industries advantage financially do the decide to turn over a new "leaf". If it was truly for the publics health benefit this change would have happened a long time ago. All of this can be researched.

I believe you. But it is better for the bottom line to loose these studies. I read Dr. May's story about how he and the FDA played games with his very life. He won but meanwhile Trivia CocoCola has a huge advertising budget and isn't even selling a product that close to the whole plant.
The FDA is still pushing artificial sweeteners at at least in New York City. Only the educated consumer is making the difference.
Thank You for your remark. And the confirmation.
I use SweetLeaf Stevia on just about everything. I have even bought small measuring spoons especially for the different forms it comes in.
