The Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad is hosting a bone marrow drive on Sunday, July 15, 2012, from Noon – 4:00 p.m. The drive is being held on behalf of a 5-year-old boy named Jake, who is the nephew of two long-time volunteer EMTs with the Summit Squad.
In February, Jake was diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia, a rare blood disorder which causes bone marrow failure. He is desperately in need of a bone marrow match, his best hope for a cure. His family has already been checked, as have the worldwide bone marrow banks, but so far no match has been found.
Please come out to the event and help spread the word. Testing to see if you are a bone marrow match is quick and painless – just a simple cheek swab.
The drive will be held at:
Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad
54-56 Elm St., Summit, NJ 07901
Please park in the Middle School parking lot across the street
