Each week, Scotch Plains-Fanwood Athletic Director Ryan Miller names the top student-athletes.
Name: Grace KellySport: Cross CountryYear: Junior Accomplishments: Kelly improved her best time of the year by 46 seconds on Oct. 18 at the Watchung Division Cross-Country Championship when she placed second with a time of 20:56. It marked the ninth straight year in which the Raiders had their top female place first or second in the Watchung Conference or Watchung Division XC Championship.
Name: Anthony ByersSport: FootballPosition: Running Back/LinebackerYear: Senior Accomplishments: Byers rushed for 307 yards on 31 carries, returned a kick 36 yards, and found the endzone three times to help the Raiders gain their first win of the season, a 26-14 Homecoming victory over Voorhees on Oct. 15. He also nearly made an interception on defense in the fourth quarter.
Name: Andrew LeischnerSport: SoccerPosition: MidfielderYear: Junior Accomplishments: With two goals and an assist, Leischner led the Raiders to a 4-0 victory over division rival, Linden, on Oct. 11. His team is currently 11-2 and ranked No. 9 in the state by The Star-Ledger.
Name: Delaney ReimersSport: VolleyballPosition: SetterYear: Senior Accomplishments: Reimers has greatly improved throughout the year, Athletic Director Ryan Miller stated, and her increasing confidence has helped the Raiders win four of their last five games. Her 14 assists were vital in a 2-0 win over rival Westfield on Oct. 5.
Name: Alexandra PelusoSport: GymnasticsPosition: ForwardYear: Junior Accomplishments: Peluso took first place in floor exercise with a score of 9.474 against The Star-Ledger’s No. 8-ranked East Brunswick on Sept. 26. Her all-around score of 34.875 helped the Raiders record their highest team score in years, 105.3.
Name: Travis CortesSport: Boys SoccerPosition: ForwardYear: SeniorAccomplishments: Cortes scored the game-winning goals against Cranford on Sept. 20, Westfield on Sept. 15, and Linden on Sept. 13, as well as the tying goal in a 2-1 victory over Union on Sept. 10. He has four goals in five games this season.Name: Tom BreznitskySport: Boys SoccerPosition: Head CoachExperience: 37th yearAccomplishments: Breznitsky gained his 600th win with a 6-0 victory against Cranford on Sept. 20 to raise his team’s record to 4-1 this season and his career record to 600-148-52. Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School Athletic Director Ryan Miller chose basketball player Taylor Sebalao and wrestler Anthony Tufaro this week's top players.  Taylor Sebalao Sophomore Sebalao plays guard for the Varsity Girls Raiders. This season, she averages 10 points a game, and over the last 2 games she averaged 18 points. On February 10th, Sebalao had her career high of 25 points in a single game against Linden.   Anthony Tufaro Sophomore Heavyweight Tufaro previously won Athlete of the Week for his impressive work on the mat. Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School athletic director Ryan Miller selected wrestler Anthony Tufaro and basketball player Aysia Peterson as this week's top athletes. Anthony Tufaro Tufaro, a sophomore is a second-year member of the varsity wrestling team with a record of 14-2. In December, he took third place at the Warren Hills “John Goles” Tournament. Last weekend, he won the Union City Tournament, beating Clifton's Thomas Tromollen in the finals 2-1. Tromollen had placed second in District 15 last year.  Miller writes, "Anthony is a great kid and an extremely hard worker during practice."  …

With the fall sports season coming to an end, and different sports ending at different times, Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School Athletic Director Ryan Miller named two female student-athletes the Athletes of the Week. He tapped two soccer standouts, whose names seemed to make the news after every game: senior captains Emily Nagourney and Avika Shah. Athlete of the Week: Emily Nagourney Nagourney, a four-year varsity player, finished the season with seven goals and 11 assists.
