DESCRIPTION:Registration is now open for Arts Guild New Jersey&rsquo\;s f
 un and affordable Kids and Teens Summer Art Workshops at Arts Guild New 
 Jersey! Kids Workshops run the last two weeks of July and first two week
 s of August 2012.&nbsp\; Teen workshops will be held the last two weeks 
 of July and the first week of August 2012. All workshops will be held in
  City Hall Plaza in downtown Rahway at the Recreation Center located at 
 275 East Milton Avenue.&nbsp\; If you have any questions call Arts Guild
  New Jersey during office hours\, most Mondays- Thursdays 10 a.m.- 3:30 
 p.m.\nRahway Summer Art Workshops provide a great opportunity to further
  a child&rsquo\;s creative talents and enrich their summer experience.&n
 bsp\; Classes are filling quickly\, so enroll now to guarantee your chil
 d&rsquo\;s place.&nbsp\; There are three easy ways to register for the w
 orkshops: Visit www.agnj.org (Art Classes page) to register/pay with a c
 redit card\; print and mail the registration form (available at www.agnj
 .org or by calling 732-381-7511 with your check payment\; visit Arts Gui
 ld New Jersey&rsquo\;s office at 1670 Irving Street\, Rahway.  A variety
  of Workshops for kids (ages 7-11)\, are offered in Drawing\, Painting\,
  Sculpture\, Cartooning\, and Art Story.&nbsp\; Each class is held for 9
 0 minutes daily\, Monday-Friday\, for one week.&nbsp\; Tuition for each 
 five-day class is $60.&nbsp\; Class times are staggered\, so enrollment 
 in more than one class is possible.&nbsp\; Children may take classes dur
 ing multiple sessions to work on varied projects.&nbsp\; Drawing\, Paint
 ing\, and Sculpture are offered each week\, July 16-20\, July 23-27\, Ju
 ly 30-August 3\, and August 6-10. Cartooning is offered for two weeks\,J
 uly 16-20 and July 23-27.&nbsp\; Art Story also offered for two weeks\, 
 July 30-August 3 and August 6-10.  &ldquo\;Arts Guild New Jersey classes
  are an excellent value in New Jersey\, with talented and certified inst

 rt Workshops are an invaluable classroom experience that allows children
  to either build upon their artistic skills or discover their creative t
 alents.&rdquo\;  In Drawing\, kids will learn to draw and explore their 
 creativity with various materials such as pencil\, charcoal\, pastel\, a
 nd ink.&nbsp\; They will have the opportunity to create finished drawing
 s of a range of subjects\, including still life\, nature\, and photograp
 hs.&nbsp\; In Painting\, children will create original pictures from obs
 ervation and photos\, learn several techniques used by artists and get a
 n introduction on the use of color as they create unique original artwor
 k.\nSculpture encourages children to think three-dimensionally by learni
 ng about design and composition of forms in space\; this is a great clas
 s for constructing objects out of materials like wood\, cardboard\, and 
 wire\, or modeling 3-D art using air-dry clay to create objects like fre
 e-standing or wall hanging sculpture. Learn the basics of creating comic
 -style characters and scenes like professional cartoonists in Cartooning
 .&nbsp\; Telling a simple story in pictures and creating a comic panel o
 r comic strip page will be projects in these classes.&nbsp\; For childre
 n who enjoy telling stories through pictures\, Create an Art Story\, a b
 rand-new class will give students the skills to tell a story\, fairy tal
 e or favorite movie plot using a variety of art-making techniques.&nbsp\
 ; Each day is a different activity: Students recreate the characters\, s
 cenery and setting\, and objects in the story using materials such as pa
 int\, markers\, colored pencils and paper mach&eacute\;.&nbsp\; During t
 he final class\, each student has the opportunity to present their &lsqu
 o\;art story&rsquo\; to their classmates.&nbsp\; Materials are included 
 for all classes.  Workshops for teens (ages 12-16)\, are offered in Port
 folio Development\, Japanese Anime/Manga-style Cartooning\, Acrylic Pain
 ting\, and Sculpture. Each class is held for 2 hours daily\, Monday-Frid
 ay\, for one week.&nbsp\; Tuition for each five-day class is $75. Class 
 times are staggered\, so enrollment in multiple classes is possible.&nbs
 p\; Portfolio Development is offered for one week only\, July 16-20.&nbs
 p\; The Manga\, Painting\, and Sculpture teen workshops are each offered
  during the weeks of July 23-27 and July 30-August 3.   Portfolio Develo
 pment is a new offering designed to strengthen students developing portf
 olios for college/art school application.&nbsp\; College application req
 uirements will be reviewed.&nbsp\; One or two projects will be assigned 
 (to be started in class and completed at home) and constructive criticis
 m of finished drawings will be discussed.\nStudents will complete the cl
 ass with two &ldquo\;portfolio ready&rdquo\; pieces.&nbsp\; Japanese Ani
 me/Manga is a much-loved style of cartooning found in comic books\, anim
 ated cartoons and films.&nbsp\; This workshop is an extension of the Art
 s Guild&rsquo\;s popular Manga class for teens\, which is offered for ei
 ght weeks\, in fall\, winter and spring sessions.&nbsp\; Acrylic Paintin
 g is a class for teens with an interest in exploring color\, texture\, f
 orm/line work\, and subject matter to create original still-life\, lands
 cape\, or fantasy paintings.&nbsp\; In Sculpture\, students will build 3
 -D artworks\, such as statues and abstract forms\, out of a variety of f
 ound objects and other materials\, while looking at and discussing sculp
 tures by numerous artists.&nbsp\; Materials are included for all classes
 .  All summer classes for children and teens are held in comfortable\, a
 ir-conditioned classrooms.&nbsp\; Workshops are taught by knowledgeable\
 , experienced instructors who work within public school districts or for
  universities/colleges and other non-profit art centers. Classes are siz
 ed to ensure that your child will receive the individual attention they
