DESCRIPTION:Scotch Plains Public Library is pleased to announce a full sl
 ate of Summer Reading programs and activities for teens\, children and a
 dults.&nbsp\; Day and evening events\, structured around nighttime theme
 s will include music\, art\, chess\, special guests\, parties\, and of c
 ourse\, the chance to read and win prizes all summer!&nbsp\; Registratio
 n for children and teens begins at 9 a.m. on June 18\, 2012 and is limit
 ed to Scotch Plains and Fanwood cardholders.&nbsp\; Registration for adu
 lts inongoing.Children through grade 5 in the &ldquo\;Dream Big\, Read!&
 rdquo\; program will set reading goals\, record the time they spend read
 ing\, and will receive prizes when they check in at the library to log t
 heir time.&nbsp\; Special events include a Fancy Nancy Soiree\, a magic 
 show and family dance party\, inaddition to story times\, crafts and a s
 ing-along.&nbsp\; Animal lovers have a chance to read to a dog and see a
 nd learn about animals that only come out at night!&nbsp\; Registration 
 is in-person at the library.Teens will &ldquo\;Own the Night&rdquo\; at 
 the library this summer!&nbsp\; After registering through the library we
 b site or in person\, starting June 18th\, participants entering grades 
 6 &ndash\; 12 are invited to start the summer reading season at a black 
 light party\, complete with glow-in-the-dark balloon volleyball\, refres
 hments\, fortune telling and crafts.&nbsp\; They will wrap up the season
  with a chocolate night teen finale on August 13th.&nbsp\; In between\, 
 there will be thrills and chills when real ghost hunters and astronomers
  visit\, and when we solve a grisly murder at Murder Mystery Night!&nbsp
 \; Registrants can sign up for Intensive middle school chess workshops a
 nd the chance to work with and learn from professional artists\, and to 
 enjoy a reading club and crafts projects.&nbsp\; They will set reading g
 oals and win prizes for their reading and the book reviews they write.Th
 e entire community is invited to enjoy a week of Star Wars activities\, 
 culminating in a visit from the 501st Legion\, on July 20th.Adults can g
 et &ldquo\;Between the Covers&rdquo\; by launching their summer library 
 season with Alfred Hitchcock Week.&nbsp\; Film maker Chris Messineo will
  speak at 7 p.m. on Monday\, June 25\, 2012 and the library will show Hi
 tchcock films over the next two weeks.&nbsp\; Art workshops and artists&
 rsquo\; receptions\, stress relief and aromatherapy sessions\, a book cl
 ub\, and a &ldquo\;Grow Your Own Gourmet Mushrooms&rdquo\; workshop are 
 just some of the events to savor.&nbsp\; Adults can register by going to
