DESCRIPTION:Artwork by Lauren Lehman\, an emerging artist who began her j
 ourney in  2010 without any formal training\, will be on display at the 
 Scotch  Plains Library from Sunday\, February 5 until Friday\, March 2.&
 nbsp\; Reception  to be held Sunday\, February 5 from 1 pm-3 pm.&ldquo\;
 Emerge and See&rdquo\;  is a comprehensive show featuring vibrant\, abst
 ract expressionist work.&nbsp\;  She is a self taught painter who works 
 primarily with acrylics and  mixed media on canvas.&nbsp\; Her technique
 \, which draws influence from  abstract expressionism and realism\, uses
  bold color fields and strong  waves of emotion.The objects\, form and c
 olor used in Lauren&rsquo\;s  work represent the tension that exists bet
 ween ecosystems\, individuals  and society.&nbsp\; Her work touches upon
  the many inherent contradictions  present in our consumerist capitalist
  culture.&nbsp\; Lehman&rsquo\;s work is a  reflection of power dynamics
  that showcase a deep concern for our  natural world.Lauren has featured
  in juried shows and  exhibitions throughout northern NJ\, Philadelphia 
 and New York.&nbsp\; Her  current rotating exhibit is located at Rock Pa
 per Scissors in Montclair\,  NJ. &ldquo\;Emerge and See&rdquo\; is her f
 irst solo exhibition.The Scotch Plains Public Library is located at 1927
  Bartle Avenue\, one block from Park Avenue\, in the center of the towns
 hip.Library  hours are Monday and Thursday\, 9 am to 9 pm\; Tuesday and 
 Friday\, 9 am  to 5 pm\; Wednesday 9 am to 8 pm\; Saturday 9 am to 5pm a
 nd Sunday 12 noon  to 4 pm.
