Tea Party Seeking Union County Volunteers for November Election
Scotch Hills Golf Course, 820 Jerusalem Rd, Scotch Plains, NJ | Get Directions »
FREE
The Scotch Plains – Fanwood Tea Party is seeking volunteers throughout Union County for the purpose of working to support candidates for federal office who best represent our philosophy of fiscal responsibility, small government and personal responsibility. We will organize and train volunteers to have an impact on the election by communicating with their friends and neighbors about key issues and getting out the vote on Election Day. We will provide volunteers with the materials and guidance to accomplish the job.
We have rallied, protested, and made our impact on the 2010 elections. But, with all our accomplishments, the outcome is still in doubt. The stakes are high, and we have much to lose. The November federal election will decide if we are to continue the American dream born 235 years ago or become a socialist society bogged down by unsustainable debt and government dictates on how we live our lives from Obamacare to which light bulbs we can use in our homes.
On Thursday, August 2 at 7 p.m. at the Scotch Hills Country Club, 820 Jerusalem Road, Scotch Plains, the Scotch Plains – Fanwood Tea Party will hold a meeting to organize volunteers and get them actively involved in the election process.
Come join us in taking back our country.

Didn't want to take back the country when Bush was leading the country into a recession ? Jokers!

The Tea Party seems quite selective in wanting to uphold and adhere to our Constitutionally guaranteed rights. Yesterday I commented on this event that I thought we should take our country forward, not back. I got a response and replied asking who we are taking it back from. I stated the generic "the politicians" is a lazy and unacceptable answer. Poof, now my comments are gone.
Nice. Was it you Frank? Or Al? Or Bob? Or Gerry? Maybe Grace? You fool no one with your "we got ours, eff you" attitudes.
Keep deleting these posts you so-called keepers of our flame of liberty.
You're flaming alright, flaming..........

Actually, Pointy, I replied to you ... twice. And didn't delete my posts. Please refrain from the assumptions and name calling.

I know two (2) self proclaimed 'Tea Party Patriots' in Cranford that experienced damage to their homes and property as a result from Tropical Storm Irene. Both of them gobbled up every dollar of government assistance that was made available. I wonder how many potential Tea Party volunteers at Thursday's meeting suffered property damage last year from Tropical Storm Irene and filed claims with, and accepted money from, FEMA?

Aw, come on snad264, that's different. Republican $$ are always used wisely and for needed purposes like storm damage in Cranford. It's when you get to storm damage in New Orleans that the $$ turn Democrat and become dirty and mismanaged. Don't take my word for it, Tom (monk) will be on shortly to vilify er verify just that. Maybe he will answer if he was on line for one of those government handouts? ROFLMAO at the hypocracy that snad264 was able to so quickly illustrate in a real world example. WELL DONE

Hi, Pointy. I changed my moniker to Monk from Tom after someone else recently posted under Tom. My basement would have flooded except we had a generator to run the sump pump. We also invited four neighbors to run their sump pumps and refrigerators off our generator from Sunday morning to Thursday afternoon. It was heartwarming to see many neighbors helping each other this way. One neighbor and his wife were out scrubbing and sanitizing their things after their basement flooded. Other neighbors just discarded lots of useful things. I didn't need any FEMA money.

Tom - I'm glad to hear that you did not sustain damage. Is your opinion that others, and most likely your neighbors if you needed a generator and it was shared by some in your neighborhood, should not get assistence from FEMA?
If they did not, and could not afford to bring their homes back, should they be fined for not following the "beauty law" on most town's books?
If structural damage was sustained, do they float on the river until they can occupy their homes again?
I saw that Cranford is spending $1.5M(?) to help with the flooding issues. Some if not all is government aid. Do we, who do not live in Cranford say, "hey, they knew about the river when they moved, let em sink?"
Back to my ambulance question from the Cranford link you want people to see. T-P'ers now call public education "government schools". If you fall in your backyard, should the "government ambulance" stay in it's bay?
As in the Cranford article comments your reply to some of my questions was "you should have your ears boxed", does that mean that my right to observe the first amendment is deemed void by YOU?
I didn't realize your last name was Jefferson and you knew what we could and don't have to observe in our Constitution.
I do hope you won't try to seek me out for physical harm as your last reply to me in the Cranford article (link attached above for those who want to see it before Tom (Monk) removes it) threatened to do. See, I can be patriotic without violence or the need to invade a nation

Pointy, can you lighten up a bit? You've made more assumptions about me than are justified! You're actually making strawman criticisms. That is, you are criticizing a fictitious character of your own making. When you say you already know what my answer is going to be, that's just closed-mindedness.
Let me put it this way: I don't believe that citizens ought to be so dependent on the government for their welfare. Emergencies are another story.

No Tom, you're wrong. What you call assumptions are questions you won't answer. The one possible exception was when I said I expect what you're answer will be. How did I arrive at that deduction? Having read over the months your hundreds of posts, they have a similar theme. Dems bad, repubs good. That's why I asked those questions that you won't answer. See, I've found T-Per's try to simplify complex issues with inflammatory language. Review your own posts. Taxpayers and tax takers. Socialistic and Marxism are also favorites. Again, my favorite is taking perhaps the greatest thing our country did, providing a society supported public education for all, regardless of income or status and term it "government schools" as if run by indoctrinating Nazis. I've found that when asking some questions and prefacing it with you can't use some of these generic "straw man words", the "patriots" either can't answer, wont answer, or threaten violence. Congratulations, you did all three

Sorry. Friends don't threaten friends with violence and then think all is ok because of a sideways smile face. Why won't you answer if Cranford should use "government money" to try to fix their flooding problem? How come government schools are bad but government ambulances are not? I'm also retired and have plenty of time to debate you on this. But it must start with you answering questions. Otherwise, your continuous anti-Dem comments are just gas in the wind.

Facetiously saying you should have your ears boxed for being fresh is hardly a threat of violence, Pointy. You're too much. I would answer your questions if they were asked one at a time and you didn't tell me not to bother answering because you already knew what I would say. What makes you think I'm retired? I'm not, and there you go again with your assumptions. You don't come across as a retiree.

Words have consequences Tom. Don't play the victim. You and other TPers are happy to throw out there, Marisx, socialism, governmental redistribution. you trash Clinton, talk of how the left is chopping away at our values and yes, you threatened violence. When called out, you won't answer basic direct questions, tell me to lighten up and then say you were being facetious. Typical coward. Unfortunately your ilk is alive and well with a small minority in our town as well. One of our more vocal TPers is now looking to taxes churches. He complains about public employee extravagance. Oh by the way, he's a retired government school principal. More of the same, I got mine, eff you hypocrisy.
By the way, if 5 to 6 questions asked in one post is too many for you, what is your limit so I can re ask them?

So what is wrong with getting money for something you paid for? They are complaining that no one should be getting the money and therefore no one should be paying. If they have to pay, then they should take the money.

Pointy, you insist on assuming I am a Tea Partier, but I have not attended any Tea Party event, nor have I any affiliation with any political group apart from being a registered Republican (which doesn't mean I adore Romney, Christie or my local officials, either). I am not even aware that any of my acquaintances are Tea Partiers. There is no need for citizens to be dependent upon the government for day-to-day, mundane needs. Private non-profit, charitable and for-profit organizations can handle that with less waste. People who put themselves and their property at risk (of flooding, for example) should purchase insurance. Many ambulance services charge the injured something. There are some responses for you.
When you go off in several directions with your questions, we hardly have the opportunity to clarify things and understand each other. Isn't that of value to you? Instead, the dialogue gets a bit unwieldy, lacks coherence and generally disintegrates.

Please understand, I do admire those common citizens who, whether they do - or do not - identify themselves with the Tea Party Movement. As a registered Independent who has voted for Republicans & Democrats in Federal, State and Local elections I join them in their disgust with the political garbage in Washington D.C. However, the Tea Party folk I have met act as if the mess this nation is in has developed all-of-a-sudden and that Democrats are to blame. WRONG!! The mess we have in this country has been YEARS in the making with both political parties bearing responsibility. In fact, I am perplexed as to why the Tea Party has seemed to align with the Republican Party. Republican leadership (Presidential/Senatorial/Congressional) is responsible for the majority ($10.67 trillion) of our $15 trillion+ national debt crisis. The Republican Party is not the Party of 'Family Values' they profess to be, they are not the Party of 'Fiscal Responsibility' that they profess to be, and they carve-up the U.S. Constitution as much, if not more, than the Democrats. I LOOK FORWARD TO THE DAY WHEN HYPOCRISY NO LONGER PLAYS A ROLL IN OUR POLITICAL LANDSCAPE. Unfortunately, I'm afraid that day will never come.

I'm so glad to see the Tea Party getting organized and active. They seem to be the only ones concerned about reducing government spending and debt. Neither Republicans nor Democrats seem to have any real proposals to cut spending, and both parties have made the problems worse.

The so called government is right here in town. Why don't you guys just hold a little rally in front of the town hall and protest the ever increasing property taxes that is driving us middle class out of town?
