The Scotch Plains and Fanwood Business and Professional Associations are sponsoring a Shop and Dine Event to encourage residents to support local business.  Hurricane Sandy caused our businesses to suffer substantial financial loss.  Fanwood resident Amy Boroff reached out on Facebook and suggested a campaign to help local businesses in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.  In response, the Scotch Plains –Fanwood BPAs joined forces to sponsor this event.  “Being without power for almost 2 weeks has had a huge negative impact on the local businesses,” said Tracy Constandi, owner of Franks Auto Repair and President of the Fanwood BPA.

“Most of them are small Mom and Pop shops that need your support now more than ever.”

The event will run from November 24th through December 8, 2012.  The first 300 shoppers can pick up their gift bag with an informational flyer and shopping cards at Apple Blossom Flower Shop in Scotch Plains or Frank’s Auto Repair in Fanwood.  Participating businesses’ will offer specials, discounts and shoppers will be entered into drawings based on the amount spent.  The drawings will be held on Sunday  December 9, 2012.

Lisa Mohn, president of the Scotch Plains BPA added, “The members agreed that we need to work together to help the local businesses that are such an integral part of our communities.”
