Challenges of Motherhood Discussion at the JCC Tonight

What's happening today in Scotch Plains and Fanwood.

JCC presents discussion about the challenges of motherhood: Tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the JCC, Join Cyma Shapiro, journalist and creator of Stories of Midlife Mothers photo exhibit, as she moderates a panel of women all of whom had children at different ages. The panel will discuss the common challenges they all face, the ones that are unique to the “young” mother vs. the “older” mother and everything in between. The event is free and open to the community.

PSE&G crews digging on Front Street: 
Beginning this week, PSE&G will be excavating along its right of way behind the Front Street substation in Scotch Plains. The “soft dig” is exploratory and will attempt to identify the exact location of an existing gas and sewer line to verify the mark-up on a surveying map. Crews will be in the ROW behind the Front Street substation for two to three days over the course of the next two weeks.

Donate to the Junior Women's Club's annual coat drive: 
The group will be collecting new or gently used infant, children and adult coats only. They may be dropped off at the Scotch Plains Library on Bartle Avenue or the Jewish Community Center on Martine Avenue during their normal business hours. Donations will be distributed to local citizens in need. 

Check out Jumble Store week: The Jumble Store will be "Salebrating" its 80th anniversary of serving the community during "Jumble Store Week." Happenings include: Tuesday, Wine Cork Pull Sale and Candy Corn Contest; Wednesday, Extra Stamp Day, All shoppers making a purchase receive an extra stamp on their loyalty card; Thursday, Sip 'n Shop-4pm-6pm-Enjoy light refreshments while you shop; Friday, Buy one item, get another item for 50% off; Saturday, 10/26-Holiday Kick-Off Sale. The store is owned and operated by the Junior League of Elizabeth-Plainfield and serves to raise the necessary funds for the league's charitable programs.

Have a 'Tini Tuesday: Tuesdays are martini night at the Stage House in Scotch Plains. All martinis on the menu are $5 all day long.
