Fanwood Municipal Lot Construction Begins

This is the first of a multi-phase construction project that will last through September and will result in an additional 50 parking spaces.

The reconstruction of the Fanwood Municipal Parking Lot began this weekend with the closing of the west entrance on LaGrande Avenue near McDermott Place (above).

The portion of the lot where commuters currently park (Commuter overflow Lot 2) will be the first part to be rebuilt. Commuters have already been notified of alternative parking areas.

The east entrance to the lot, on LaGrande Avenue behind Frank's Auto, will remain open and some parking will be available in the part of the lot behind the Double Dipper, Nick's, Fanwood Bagel and the other Martine Avenue businesses.

Shoppers and visitors are reminded that parking in the Fanwood train station lot is free after 3 p.m. weekdays and all weekend.

This is the first phase of a multi-phase construction project that will last through September and will result in an additional 50 parking spaces and the next part of the downtown redevelopment, Fanwood Crossing II.

Full details of the project are available on the Fanwood Borough website.
