Make Wearable Art at the Library, Meet SPF Art Association's New Pres

What's happening today in Scotch Plains and Fanwood.

Make wearable art at the library: The Scotch Plains Public Library will present two workshops where attendees can create unique wearable art. The first will take place on Thursday at 7 p.m., as local artist Connie Pinkowski demonstrates  how to turn this summer’s beach treasures into one-of-a-kind jewelry. Attendees can bring their own “found” objects or use those provided by Connie.

Meet Sandra Cerchio, new president of the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Art Association: The Scotch Plains Fanwood Arts Association will start its 2013-2014 season on Thursday with a meet and greet with new president, Sandra Cerchio. The meet and greet will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Patricia M. Kuran Cultural Arts Center, which is located on the grounds of Fanwood’s Borough Hall, facing Watson Road, Fanwood. 

Senior appreciation day in Scotch Plains: Residents 60 and over are invited for free golf, mini golf, bingo, lunch and more at Scotch Hills Country Club, starting at 10 a.m.

Library jumble in Fanwood: This event is a jumble of weekly activities to strengthen your pre-schooler's early literacy skills at the Fanwood Library. Sign-up takes place on a weekly basis, one week prior to each session. You may choose one or more sessions. Today's theme is sandcastles.

Say abra cadabra: Dinner with a side of sleight of hand? Tableside magic happens every Thursday at the Stage House. 

Boys soccer home game: The Raiders take on Elizabeth at home at 4 p.m.
