Shady Rest Preservation Funds on Agenda in Scotch Plains

Scotch Plains council meets: Council will meet tonight at 7 p.m. in council chambers at the municipal building. On the agenda, the introduction of an ordinance to approve "$138,163 for the undertaking of professional studies of, and various repairs and improvements to the Scotch Hills Golf Course Clubhouse" – once home base to historic Shady Rest, the first African-American golf club in the country.
Fanwood council meets: Council will meet at 7:30 in council chambers.
Faith Fun Day at Willow Grove Church: Looking for an afternoon of fun activities for your children before school starts? Head to the Faith Fun Day at Willow Grove Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. The event is open to the public for children preschool (age 3) through 4th grade. Adults and youth from Willow Grove Church will lead a variety of activities for children in various age groups, including drama, crafts, games, cooking and music. Rev. Cynthia Cochran-Carney, pastor of Willow Grove Church, and other leaders will be storytellers, engaging children in Bible stories. Following the afternoon of activities from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m., families may come to enjoy a short program featuring some of the songs, skits and crafts from the day. Then all are invited to stay for a family style dinner at 5:30 p.m. Cost for the Faith Fun Day is $5 per child. Monetary donations for the dinner are gratefully accepted.
