Listen to some tunes with the kids: The Scotch Plains Cultural Arts Committee has rescheduled the rained-out performances by the children's act Hot Peas N Butter (6:30 p.m.) and Country cover artists Southbound (7:30 p.m.) for tonight on the Alan Augustine Village Green, adjacent to the Municipal Building. The Cultural Arts Concert Series runs every Thursday until August 29. All concerts feature local vendors and food from area restaurants.
Meet an underwater photographer: At 7 p.m., the Scotch Plains Public Library welcomes Herb Segars, a scuba diver and photographer who has worked along the eastern United States and throughout the Caribbean. His work has been published in Geo, BBC Wildlife, National Geographic, National Geographic World, Natural History, National Wildlife, Newsweek, Ranger Rick, Smithsonian, The World and I, Outdoor America and many other national and international publications. Segars will discuss and sign copies of his book Beneath the Garden State: Exploring Aquatic New Jersey. This book is the culmination of over 30 years of photographing the underwater environment off the coast of New Jersey. It contains hundreds of color photos of both aquatic creatures and unique artificial reefs, combined with Segars’ personal accounts of his explorations.
Scotch Plains Council meets: Council will hold a special meeting at 11:30 a.m. to approve a bill list.
