Zone Change for Assisted-Living Development to be Introduced Tuesday

What's happening today in Scotch Plains and Fanwood.

Scotch Plains council meets: On Tuesday, council meets for their conference meeting at 7 p.m. followed by the business meeting at 8 p.m. at town hall. See the full meeting agenda here. 

Highlights on the agenda: 

- a resolution authorizing a contract to TBR Architects & Planners, LLC for Historical Preservation Architectural/Engineering Services Related to Scotch Hills Country Club (Shady Rest), at a cost not to exceed $ 9,200. Read more about the plans for preserving Shady Rest, here.

- the introduction of the ordinance to allow congregate care as a conditional use in the R1 residential zone. Changing the zone will clear the next step for the Shelter Development Group to build an assisted living facility on the Parker Gardens property on Terrill Road. 

- a resolution authorizing the State Contract Purchase of a Pavillion for Brookside Park to Marturano Recreation Company” in an amount not to exceed $43,892.50. 

Newmark School open house: The state-approved, private K-8 school for children living with special needs holds an open house at their brand new facility on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
