Community Update

The Friends
of Music
at
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Westfield will present a special concert on
Sunday, November 17th at 4pm.   The concert will showcase St. Paul’s
magnificent pipe organ – one of the largest in the northeast region.  

Included on the program are a variety of
works selected to display the unique orchestral and classical voices of the
organ.   These include Sibelius’ Finlandia, as well as works by Bach,
Daquin, Grieg, Manz Schumann and Sullivan. 



Charles M.
Banks, St. Paul’s director of music and esteemed organist, will be joined by
concert pianists Pamela Aslin (of Cranford) and Doris La Mar (of Westfield) in
duets for piano and organ, including arrangements of Amazing Grace and Simple
Gifts
.

Renowned
baritone David Murray (of Scotch Plains) will be the soloist in a rarely
performed concert version of Sir Arthur Sullivan’s The Lost Chord for soloist,
piano & organ.   



Following the
concert, the public is invited to a wine and appetizer reception in The
Cloister.

Concert
tickets are not required, but a donation of $20 for adults is suggested to help
support St. Paul’s music programs and concerts, which have garnered national
recognition for their high quality and appeal.   Students K-12-College are admitted at no
charge and parking in the area is also free.
