Congregation Beth Israel Completes Coat Drive for Needy

Congregation Beth Israel in Scotch Plains collected more than 175 winter coats, which were donated to the non-profit community-based organization, Jersey Cares, for distribution to men, women and children in need throughout the state.  Volunteers from the synagogue’s Social Action Committee conducted a month-long coat drive, which culminated on Sunday, November 24. Congregation Beth Israel’s Social Action Committee sponsors a wide range of activities throughout the year to help people in need in Scotch Plains and surrounding communities; the synagogue has participated in the Jersey Cares annual coat drive for many years.
