FANWOOD-SCOTCH PLAINS YMCA EDUCATES AND PROTECTS CHILDREN WITHIN THE COMMUNITY BY OFFERING CHILD ABUSE AWARENESS TRAININGS

The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA is taking steps to educate and protect children within our community by participating in Darkness to Light’s – “Stewards of Children” program.  This program educates adults to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. The training session will help adults build awareness on what to look for and steps to follow in order to protect our children.  Child sexual abuse is an agonizing and traumatic experience for its victims and is a crime punishable by law.

Beginning October 23, 2013 – April 23, 2014 the community is invited to attend the FREE Online Stewards of Children Training by visiting https://D2L.csod.com and signing on any time during the timeframe listed above.

The training is open to all adult community members.  If community members are interested in participating in an in-house training, the “Stewards of Children” training will be held at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA on Tuesday, October 29th or on Tuesday, November 12th from 6:30-8:30pm at the Main Y Facility, 1340 Martine Avenue in Scotch Plains.  Interested participants should register in advance and in person at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA’s Member Service desk.  There is a $15 fee for materials.
