FANWOOD-SCOTCH PLAINS YMCA HOSTS AUDITION FOR DANCE COMPANY

Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Dance Company is holding 2013-2014 auditions for their Dance Company on Saturday, September 7th at 10:00 am at the 1340 Martine Avenue in Scotch Plains location.

The Dance Company at the Y is for dancers 7-18 who are interested in expanding their performance technique and broadening their dance knowledge. Company members attend classes and workshops given by Master Teachers and choreographers from New York City, participate in dance competitions, and stage two live performances during the season year.

Last season the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Dance Company performed alongside professional companies at the Red Bank Theatre and Rutgers University, a collaboration with the non-profit organization, Dance New Jersey.  Additionally last season, company member Amy Walejewsky received a scholarship for excellence in technique at a January workshop.

Mrs. Jenny Logus is the Artistic Director of the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Dance Company. She is best known for directing the world-renowned Broadway Dance Center in New York City where she was responsible for co-founding the Broadway Dance Center Children’s Program.  “Extracurricular activities benefit children greatly, whether it’s building social skills and confidence to developing a new talent, and it’s extremely gratifying to me personally to be able to offer these kinds of enrichment programs to our community,” said Mrs. Logus.
