PS&S Chairman and CEO Anthony J. Sartor Honored at Celebration, NJIT’s Annual Black-Tie Fundraiser

Anthony J. Sartor, PhD, of Scotch Plains, received the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) President’s Medal for Lifetime Achievement at Celebration 2013, the university’s annual black-tie benefit dinner, on November 8, 2013 at the Pleasantdale Chateau, West Orange.  Entertainment was provided by the multiple Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Roberta Flack. Proceeds from the sold-out event will be used toward endowed scholarships for students at NJIT. 

Since 1995, many of NJIT’s most generous supporters have gathered annually for Celebration, a black-tie affair that has raised more than $4.6 million in scholarship endowment funds for students at New Jersey’s science and technology university. A festive evening featuring dinner and live entertainment, Celebration also honors individuals for achievements beneficial to the state and our nation, as well as organizations exceptional for their commitment to NJIT’s mission.   

Sartor currently serves as the chairman and chief executive officer of Paulus, Sokolowski and Sartor, LLC (PS&S), a consulting engineering firm headquartered in Warren, NJ, with regional offices in Yonkers, NY; Garden City, NY; Newark, NJ; Atlantic City, NJ; Camden, NJ, and Puerto Rico. He reacquired PS&S from National Grid, a Fortune 500 company, in April 2009.  

Sartor was appointed by New Jersey Governor Whitman as a Commissioner of The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey in March 1999 and reappointed in December 2001 by New Jersey Governor DiFrancesco to a six-year term.  He was reappointed in December 2007 by New Jersey Governor Corzine. Sartor is serving as a member of the Operations Committee, the Committee on Governance and Ethics and also chairs the World Trade Center Redevelopment Subcommittee. 

Prior to his appointment as a Commissioner of The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Sartor was appointed by New Jersey Governor Florio as a Commissioner on The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority (NJSEA), the public agency responsible for operating the Meadowlands Sports Complex, Monmouth Race Track and the Atlantic City Convention Center, and served from 1992 to 1999.  As a Commissioner of the NJSEA, Sartor chaired the Construction Committee and was responsible for the construction of the $300 million Convention Center in Atlantic City, construction of new luxury suites at Giants Stadium and athletic facilities at Rutgers University.  He also served as a member of the Executive Committee since his appointment to the Authority, and was involved with overall policy, planning and personnel matters for the NJSEA.
