Fanwood Library on Brink of Fundraising Goal

The Board has decided to extend the deadline for the campaign to Valentine's Day.

The Fanwood Library is at 89 percent of the way to reaching their "Close the Gap" $10,000 fundraising goal. The campaign was launched to close the gap between increased demand (rising circulation and patron visits) and decreased funding (down over $40,000 since 2009).

The Board has decided to extend the deadline for the campaign to Valentine’s Day, Friday, February 14, 2014.

"This provides an opportunity for those who have yet to donate – but who would like to - a couple of extra weeks to show the library some love and help make an impact on the community," says a post on the library website.

The money raised from the campaign will be used to shore up two vital service areas residents identified as 'not adequate' in the library’s spring survey: new books and other materials, and technology upgrades.

“It looks like 2014 and 2015 will be very exciting years for the library and the borough," said Mayor Colleen Mahr. "We have a terrific, engaged board and board president, a great staff and an amazing Friends group, and the response to the Close the Gap campaign makes it clear that the library is an integral part of what makes Fanwood such a great community.”
