On Nov. 18, Fanwood Mayor Colleen Mahr and supporters held a going away party for long time Fanwood resident Donna Dolce and her partner Lynn Sorf.
Dolce was a former Fanwood council member and the couple has a long-standing history of volunteering in Fanwood.
Come the end of November, Dolce and Sorf will be leaving the Borough and to say goodbye Mahr and council members presented them with the first ever "Key to Fanwood".
“We were thrilled and humbled by the outpouring of love and appreciation during this farewell event," Dolce said "As well as the past 20 years as residents."
Dolce chaired Fanwood's "Green Team," which most recently earned the Sustainable Jersey certification, she has also served as a councilwoman and been a member of many other Fanwood committees, such as the Fanny Wood Day committee.
Sorf has always been by Dolce's side during volunteer efforts and is an employee of Chelsea Assisted Living.
This past year Dolce did not
serve on the Fanny Wood Day committee, but instead Jason and Steven Parker, owners of K-9 Resorts, assisted on the committee.
At the Oct. 16 Fanwood council meeting, Mahr and other council members
expressed their thankfulness for Dolce's service to Fanwood and Fanny Wood Day.
They also welcomed the Parker brothers and thanked them for their ideas and enthusiasm while serving on the Fanny Wood Day committee.
"We want to thank the event organizers, Mayor Colleen Mahr for her enduring friendship, respect and trust in our efforts," Dolce and Sorf said. "And brothers, Jason and Steven Parker of K-9 Resorts for their insightfulness and bestowing the most complimentary honor through their dedication and commitment to Fanwood and their desire to follow in our footsteps!"
Dolce and Sorf will be leaving Fanwood for their new home in Delaware at the end of November.
The two closed out their remarks by saying, "To everyone with whom we have served, we thank you for your friendship and for the pleasure of working with you over the years.”
