Letter To The Editor: Fanwood Mayor Expresses Sorrow Over Passing Of Union County Sheriff Ralph Froehlich

by Tom Kranz

Fanwood Mayor Colleen Mahr today expressed sorrow on the passing of Union County Sheriff Ralph Froehlich at age 83 following a battle with cancer.

"I am saddened by the passing of Sheriff Froehlich, a champion of law enforcement and public safety whose influence touched all of us in Fanwood and across Union County," she said. "His leadership in the ongoing struggle to reduce gun violence by supporting Mayors Against Illegal Guns was an inspiration to me and many others. He will be greatly missed."

Sheriff Froehlich appeared with Mayor Mahr at a January, 2013, event in Cranford (photo attached) to push a gun control agenda. Mayor Mahr worked with Sheriff Froehlich on this and other public safety issues over the years.
"On behalf of the Borough of Fanwood, I send my deepest sympathies to Sheriff Froehlich's family and those who worked so closely with him in Union County over the decades," said Mayor Mahr.
