Madison Avenue to Be Closed for Water Pipeline Update

Customers may experience a slight discoloration of the water when the new pipeline is placed into service.

Scotch Plains Pipeline Update: Madison Avenue Project 
We wanted to provide you with an update on the 48-inch pipeline project taking place in your area. Weather permitting, New Jersey American Water’s contractor will replace 16 feet of 48-inch main on Madison Avenue between Russell Road and Martine Avenue (near 48 Madison Ave.). Russell Road will be open during construction. 
The project will take place beginning December 9 through December 13. Depending on the date construction is completed, we anticipate that temporary road restoration work will take place on December 13. Final paving will be completed in the spring. 
We do not expect any disruptions to your water service as a result of this work. Customers may experience a slight discoloration of the water when the new pipeline is placed into service. If this happens, run your water until it clears up. If the problem persists please call customer service at the number provided. 
Work Hours: The work hours will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused by lights and noise related to installing of new piping. Please know our contractor will work to complete this important project as quickly as possible. 
Traffic: Madison Avenue will be closed between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. to through traffic between Martine Avenue and Willow Avenue. Traffic control will be coordinated with the local police. Thank you.
