[PHOTOS] Fanwood-Scotch Plains Girl Scouts Donate Cookies to Sandy Victims

While selling Girl Scout cookies this year, fifth-grade Junior Girl Scout Troop 40694 from Park Middle School in Scotch Plains also took orders for boxes to be donated to the residents of Union Beach, a community recovering from Superstorm Sandy. The 12 girls collected donations for 117 boxes of cookies and travelled to Union Beach Municipal Building to give the cookies to residents coming in for support and supplies. The troop worked with Union Beach officials to spread the word to Union Beach residents that free Girl Scout cookies were available.

“Last year we donated cookies to an orphanage in Haiti. This year the girls realized people need help closer to home,” says Troop Cookie Manager Andrea Cerini.
