Fanwood Girl Fighting Autism — One Cupcake at a Time

Treats for a cause: Saturday at Parker Gardens in Scotch Plains.

Inspired by her brother, 11-year-old Fanwood resident Mallory Banks has raised more than $2,000 for Autism New Jersey, joining the cause her parents have been working with for a decade.

“I want to find a cure for my brother Ethan,” Banks told Patch before last year's bake sale. “He has autism and I love him very much. I know he loves me back.”

The following press release was received from Mallory Banks.

On Saturday, April 27, for the third year in a row, I will be serving as a 2013 Autism Awareness Junior Ambassador and having a Bake Sale and Raffle to raise money for Autism Awareness month. I will be donating the money that I make to Autism New Jersey in honor of my brother Ethan Banks and all people affected by an autism spectrum disorder.

The bake sale and raffle will take place from 9am-4pm at Parker Gardens on 1325 Terrill Road in Scotch Plains.

LAST YEAR...I raised $2,000 and was one of only two kids in the state of NJ who raised the most money for Autism Awareness month. This year with the help of my family, friends, neighbors and local merchants, I'm hoping to surpass $2,000.

RAFFLES... We will have raffles and great prizes this year including gift cards from Oh'Brian's, Stage House, Fabio's, Tinga, Darby Road, Diva Nail, Sun Tavern, Fanwood Bagel, Ginger Sushi, Double Dipper, Dairy Queen, and more.

NICK'S PIZZA of Fanwood, NJ will be selling pizza at the Bake Sale from 1-4. Half of the proceeds will be donated to Autism Speaks.

SO PLEASE...WAKE UP ON SATURDAY MORNING...and come on over to Parker Gardens for a great cause. Eat some yummy treats and baked goods, buy some raffle tickets. We will be there all day from 9-4. The proceeds from what you buy will support Autism.

Thank you for helping me to support this worthy cause.
Sincerely,
Mallory Banks 2013 Autism Junior Ambassador
