St. Bart's Youth Ministry Offers Kindness to Scotch Plains Residents Without Power

The ministry delivered coffee and bagels to those still without power on Nov. 11.


Those still without electricity on Sunday were met with some kindness and generosity by the members of the St. Bartholomew's Youth Ministry, who banded together to assist those in need in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

The Youth Ministry assisted residents still without power on Sunday, Nov. 11 by delivering hot coffee and bagels to those were still in the dark awaiting service from PSE&G.

The bagels were donated by Fanwood Bagels and the coffee was provided for free by Dunkin' Donuts.

"The gesture of kindness and concern really resonated with those of us who were still awaiting PSEG attention to get our power restored," said Meg Kolaya. "The food was great but the neighborly generosity was the best!"

The Youth Ministry participates in a variey of faith based activities, as well as service projects  teambuilding activities. 

According to the St. Bart's website, the Youth Ministry's Mission is as follows:

"We will gather monthly to create an environment where students can build community and strengthen their Catholic faith with others their age."
