This Week Ahead: Week of Monday, February 4th

Here's a look at what's happening this week in Scotch Plains and Fanwood.

 

Monday is a program by Sharon Goldner of Fanwood’s Wellness Group.  It is a six-session program helping people take control of their health and their lives. The cost is $240 ($40 per 90-minute session) at 7:30 p.m. at The Wellness group above Fanwood Cleaners on Martine Avenue. For more information or to register call 908.242.3763.

Tuesday At 9 a.m. AARP Tax-aide is offering free tax preparation at the Scotch Plains Public Library. Bring a photo ID and all 2012 federal and New Jersey tax forms and a copy of the 2011 federal and state returns. If you receive a pension or annuity, please bring the date that you began to receive payments. To schedule an appointment call 908-322-5007 x201.

Why We Dance, will be offering free hip-hop classes at La Grande Park from 7p.m. to 8p.m. Classes are open to everyone. Register at whywedance@gmail.com or by calling 908.432.2003.

The Fanwood Council will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. at Borough Hall to consider a bid for the Glenwood Road Drainage Project.

Thursday
On Thursday, Friday and Saturday Bigg Playdate will be holding their indoor farmer’s market featuring plenty of food vendors both from the summer market and new vendors.  The market takes place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 1730 East Second Street in Scotch Plains.


Saturday 
At 9 a.m. Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School will be holding its 7th annual Day of Percussion, featuring, raffles, door prizes, give-aways, music books,
dvd's, and other music related items and refreshments for sale. This is an all day event that will feature clinics 
and performances from renowned professional percussionists, as well as performances from many high school/ middle school

At 7 p.m. The JCC of Central NJ Youth Theatre Group will be presenting The Wizard of Oz. Price of admission is $13. The performance will take place at Terrill Middle School. For more information call 201-707-8940.

On Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Park Middle School is holding their Tricky Tray/Comedy Night fundraiser at the Italian American Hall in Scotch Plains. The price of admission is $30. For more information contact Lisa Ciarrocca at lciarrocca@yahoo.com. All proceeds will go towards the Park Middle School PTA.
