Tornado Watch in South Jersey; T-Storms Likely in Essex and Union

The National Weather Service says the immediate area could see heavy rain, thunderstorms and wind.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch until 10 p.m. covering South Jersey and extending as far north as Morris County.

Experts predict a few strong to severe storms are possible with strong winds presenting the primary threat. Forecasters warn that an isolated, weak tornado can't be ruled out for towns covered by the watch.

Those in Essex and Union counties may avoid a twister, but NWS meteorologists report that northern New Jersey has an 80 percent chance of experiencing "increasingly likely" showers and thunderstorms Thursday night that could produce gusty winds and heavy rain.
