AUDITIONS FOR TALENTED TEEN MUSICAL THEATER PERFORMERS

The Pineda Summer Conservatory is holding auditions March 19th to the 26th for an intensive 5 week summer program for teen musical theater performers held in Cranford.  The program consists of training in acting, audition preperation, monologue performance, improvisation and dance.  The program culminates in 4 performances of Gershwin's CRAZY FOR YOU, and 2 performances of AMERICAN DREAMS...A MUSICAL SALUTE.  Both productions are fully staged.  Professional staff includes director Juan Pineda (Broadway credits include MISS SAIGON), choreographer Christopher Johnson (International USO Tours, and national tours with CHICAGO and GREASE), and acting teacher Dan Maceyak, ( 1999 Broadway's revival of Lion in the Winter). Other staff includes Valerie Pineda (Manhattan School of Music, voice), and Patricia Pineda (Virginia Commonwealth University, voice). 
The program runs from June 27th to July 31st, Monday - Friday 12:30 to 5:30 at the Cranford Dramatic Club Theatre.  Auditions will by held by appointment only March 19th, 20th, and 26th.  The audition process selects participants for the program and determines casting for the shows.  Everyone that participates performs in all the shows.
Crazy for You is a fun-filled show with several roles and a large ensemble with a lot of stage time.  American Dreams…A MUSICAL SALUTE has features for strong singers, actors and dancers, and features some of America's greatest songs ever written. We need strong singers, as well as strong dancers.  Prepare 16 bars of a musical theater up-tempo and 16 bars of a musical theater ballad that show range and acting ability.  All vocal auditions will be followed by a group movement and dance call.  Please bring appropriate clothing (comfortable clothes and dance shoes/sneakers).  The audition process will take approximately 2 hours.  Call backs may be necessary.  Scholarships awarded based on talent and financial need.  To apply for financial aid or scholarship you must present one letter of recommendation from a teacher and a formal letter requesting consideration at your audition.  Call (908) 731 -  1377 or e-mail pinedaconservatory@comcast.net for an audition appointment.
