Auditions for Teen Opera - The Bat
The Pineda Lyric Opera is holding open auditions for a young artist production of Strauss's famous comedy, The Bat (Die Fledermaus). Auditions for students age 12 to 18 will be held on Friday, February 11th at 7 PM at the First United Methodist Church at 1171 Terrill Road in Scotch Plains. Auditioners should prepare 32 bars of an art song or legit musical theater selection in English. Candidates may also be asked to read from the script. Performances will be held on June 3rd and 4th at the Cranford Dramatic Club Theatre and rehearsals will begin mid March with rehearsals on Friday evenings and some weekends close to the performance. Some of the music has been transposed to be more suitable for a young singer and some cuts have been made to the score. Students selected to participate in the young artist program do so tuition-free, receiving valuable training and stage experience with a professional staff. Participants only pay a costume and music score fee. For more about the young artist program visit www.pinedalyric.com or www.pinedaconservatory.com or call (908) 731-1377
