Earth Day Open House

The Fanwood Environmental Commission is teaming up with Enchantments on South Avenue on the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. Shop for eco-friendly gifts for yourself or somebody special in your life (Mother's Day is May 9th) at Enchantments on Saturday, April 24th and get 10% off your purchase. Enchantments will donate another 10% of the sale to the Environmental Commission.

The Commission is a statutory board appointed by the Mayor of Fanwood and is charged with the task of promoting the conservation, protection, development, or use of all Fanwood's natural and water resources. We bring many outreach programs during the year to raise awareness on environmental issues. Some examples are the Bird Count seminar in February, Earth Hour in March, Build-A-Birdhouse contest in September. The Commission also sponsors projects like the Monarch Butterfly Garden at the Nature Center, Storm-drain cover painting all over Fanwood, and removing invasive plants from the Fanwood Nature Center, to name a few. We depend on donations, volunteers, and fund-raisers such as this to support such initiatives. Visit www.fanwoodec.org to learn more.

Enchantments on South Avenue is a long-time Fanwood business known for its handcrafted jewelry & gifts. It is joining the Fanwood Environmental Commission to celebrate this year's Earth Day by hosting a fund-raising open house featuring eco-friendly products. Its goal is to introduce innovating gift shopping ideas that would incorporate consumers becoming part of the "3R" chain. In addition, as a thank-you to Earth Day Clean Up volunteers, pick up a free hand lotion sample as a token gift at Enchantments.
