The Scotch Plains Public Library will present an afternoon with the Manhattan Lyric Opera Company on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 2 pm.
Founded in 1998 by opera singer and Artistic Director, Anne Tormela, The Opera Company is uniquely devoted to presenting elegant, concise, user-friendly staged and concert versions of the classic operas, operettas and Broadway works. The Company specializes in making the heart of this great music accessible. A native New Yorker, Ms. Tormela specializes in bel-canto, operative and early-music style. Her voice has been described as “ringing” and strongly expressive” with “extraordinary vocal control.” Critics have also said she negotiates “the upper reaches (of her voice) with dazzling security.” Make sure you come early to get a good seat for what promises to be a wonderful afternoon.
The concert will be open to the public without charge. No registration is required. In the event of cancellation due to illness or other events, please check the Library’s website: www.Scotlib.org. The Scotch Plains Public Library is located at 1927 Bartle Avenue, one block from Park Avenue, in the center of the township.
