FANWOOD, NJ – The Borough of Fanwood is home to lots of beautiful trees. Now the Borough needs your help to identify some of the biggest in town.

Do you have a particularly big tree on your property? The Fanwood Shade Tree Commission and the Fanwood Environmental Commission would like to hear from you. Together with Mayor Colleen Mahr and the Borough Council, they’re sponsoring Fanwood’s first “Tree-Mendous” Big Tree Contest as part of the up-coming Fanny Wood Day festivities.

You can enter your favorite big tree in the contest by measuring the circumference of the tree and submitting a contest form to the Shade Tree Commission at Borough Hall. Contest entry forms are available at Borough Hall, 75 North Martine Ave., or on the Fanwood website: www.fanwoodnj.org.

Entrees for the Tree-Mendous Big Tree Contest must be submitted by Monday, Sept. 17 to the Fanwood Shade Tree Commission, 75 N. Martine Ave., Fanwood 07023. Tree species and size will be verified by the Shade Tree Commission. Prize-winning trees will be announced Sunday, Sept. 30, at the Fanny Wood Day street fair in downtown Fanwood.
