Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School Jazz Ensembles Place First and Fifth in New Jersey

 The Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School Moonglowers captured the state title for the second year in a row.  The Moonglowers rhythm and trumpet sections earned Outstanding Section awards, and pianist Nick Poulios  was recognized as Outstanding Soloist. 

 

SPF Jazz placed fifth in this year's state finals.

Last year the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School Moonglowers were rated number one among Division 2 high schools, and SPF Jazz garnered third place.    Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School boasts six jazz ensembles, including Moonglowers, SPF Jazz, two Jazz Labs and two Percussion Ensembles.  The jazz program has captured many state titles.

The Moonglowers were recognized at the Festivals of Music last month in Virginia Beach, where they were named Outstanding Jazz Ensemble.  The Moonglowers were awarded Superior First Place and the Saxaphone section was named Outstanding Section at the festival.

 

The community is invited to hear the award-winning Moonglowers and SPF Jazz along with district middle school jazz ensembles at the District Jazz Festival, Monday, May 10, 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
