The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA is pleased to announce they have partnered together with Autism Family Times With Brianna, Inc. to sponsor a monthly “Special Needs Teen Night Out.” Children with special needs (ages 3 – 12) have many opportunities for socialization but teens with special needs have very few options. Understanding the situation for socializing for special needs teens (ages 13+), the two have come together to sponsor the first Special Needs Teen Night Out, “Winter Wonderland” that will include a D.J. and will be held on Friday. December 2, 2011 from 7:00pm - 9:00pm at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA located at 1340 Martine Street in Scotch Plains.
Families of special needs children ages 13-18 are invited to join the Y Staff, Autism Family Times with Brianna and Peer Mentors for a night of music, dancing, snacks, board games, winter crafts and fun times! Special Needs Teen Night at the Y will provide an outlet for this older age group to enjoy a safe and supervised social activity.
Other events to follow are the pool party in January and the Valentine’s Cooking Party in February.
