The Fanwood Choir Festival, Sunday May 20th

PRESS RELEASE 4-23-2012

Preparations are underway at Fanwood Presbyterian Church for the Fanwood Choir Festival on Sunday, May 20. Singers from Scotch Plains, Fanwood, and other communities are meeting each week to rehearse. The public is encouraged to attend this grand concert at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Fanwood Presbyterian Church on May 20. The concert will feature guest conductors, inspiring choral repertoire, and a freewill offering to be donated to the rescue squads of Scotch Plains and Fanwood.

The Fanwood Choir Festival falls on the first day of National EMS Week. EMS Week, this year May 20th-26th, was first proclaimed by President Gerald Ford in 1974. This annual observance is designed to acknowledge the work of EMTs, paramedics and first responders for their crucial work in beginning the cycle of emergency medical care for sick and injured people. This year's theme is EMS: More Than a Job, A Calling. In Fanwood and Scotch Plains, as in many other communities in New Jersey and across the country, this important service is provided by volunteers. Thus, it truly is more than a job. Once again this year, The Fanwood Rescue Squad will offer free CPR courses for our community during EMS Week
