Musical Act Announced for Fanny Wood Day

A New Jersey-based cover band will play the borough's annual fall festival.

A five-piece cover band will perform at the 15th annual Fanny Wood Day, the event's committee announced in a press release. Fanny Wood Day takes place Sunday, Sept. 26, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The New Jersey-based band, Cover 2 Cover, will return to Fanwood for the second straight year. They take the stage at 1:30 p.m. and will return for a second set at 3:15 p.m. Cover 2 Cover plays hits from the 1960s through today, including classic rocks, Motown, R&B, country and more, the press release said. The band is comprised of Christen Davino on vocals, Rich Charwin on drums, Joe Russo on vocals and keyboard, Brian Celardo on vocals and guitar and Ken Gatto on vocals and keyboard.

Fanny Wood Day will be held at the corner of Martine and South Avenues in downtown Fanwood. It will feature an array of contests, vendors and children's amusements. The children's area is available for one all-day price of $10.

"In these challenging economic times we are proud to be able to put on a local, fun filled event that is reasonably priced for families and friends," Mayor Colleen Mahr said in the release. She thanked the members of the Fanny Wood Day committee: Donna Dolce, Lynn Sorf, Bruce Zakarin, David Bleckinger, Tony Parenti, Lou Schults, Jason Parker, Steven Parker and Don Wussler.

Correction: The press release that the Fanny Wood Day committee sent to Patch stated that children's musician Zev Haber, who performed at last year's festival, would again play at Fanny Wood Day this year. That statement was in error, Zev Haber was not booked to play this year's Fanny Wood Day festival.
