[PHOTOS] Singing For a Cause: Fanwood's Second Annual Choir Festival

Funds raised will benefit the Fanwood and Scotch Plains rescue squads.

The Second Annual Choir Festival at Fanwood Presbyterian was held Sunday night. The event was put together and directed by the church's music ministry director, Tom Berdos, a musician and teacher.

The choir, made up of about 50 singers from across central and northern New Jersey, practiced every Wednesday night for a month and a half in preparation for the concert. While admission was free, a free-will offering was solicited. Last year, a total of $2,000 was raised and split between the Scotch Plains and Fanwood rescue squads. The total for tonight's concert will be tallied and announced probably later this week.

"The music was inspiring, powerful and spectacular," said Tom Kranz, Captain of the Fanwood Rescue Squad. "It is a privilege for our Squad to be the recipient of the good will generated by this very special event. We thank Pastor David Jahnke, Tom Berdos, all the singers and musicians and the entire congregation for their support."
