Schubert, Mozart, Tchaikovsky Lead Kean University Concert Series

Kean University Concert Artist Series Begins 15th season on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 3 p.m.

Under the direction of Dr. Anthony Scelba, the Conservatory of Music at Kean University will launch its 15th season with two concerts in Enlow Recital Hall.  The first is a tribute to composer Franz Schubert and the second features compositions by Mozart and Tchaikovsky.

A Schubertiade
Sunday, September 23 at 3 p.m.
Schubert's Fantasie for violin & piano in C major, Sei mir begrübt, op. posth.159, D. 934, and the glorious Piano Trio in E, op. 100, D. 929. Adrienne Kim, piano; Joanna Frankel, violin; and Na-Young Baek, cello

Birds of a Feather
Thursday, October 18 at 7:30 p.m.
Two melodic masterpieces: the greatest of string trios, Mozart’s Divertimento, K. 563, paired with Tchaikovsky’s finest work of chamber music, the String Sextet in D minor Souvenir de Florence. Brennan Sweet & Victoria Stewart, violins; Maurycy Banaszek & Joanna Frankel, violas, Na-Young Baek, cello; and Anthony Scelba, double bass

The Concert Artist Program brings performing musicians onto the faculty of the Conservatory of Music. While maintaining careers as professional performers, concert artists present solo, chamber music, and jazz recitals at Kean; teach private, weekly studio lessons to Kean students; and conduct master classes and other community outreach services in the public schools and junior colleges. Some Concert Artists also coach ensembles and teach classroom courses related to their specialties.
